Turtle Mountain Community School Athletic Field Turf Project: Belcourt, ND

Background

The Turtle Mountain Community School (TMCS) and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians (TMBCI) wanted to revamp the TMCS campus by converting their athletic fields with synthetic turf.

The Project

HEI’s Tyson Jeannotte served as the TMBCI owner’s representative and project manager. In this role, he served as a central point of coordination between the turf vendor, contractors, TMCS personnel, and Bureau of Indian Affairs and Bureau of Indian Education officials to ensure the successful installation of the football/soccer, baseball, and two softball fields. He also oversaw scheduling and monitored progress to keep the project on time and within budget. He worked closely with the turf vendor to verify product specifications, quality control, and installation procedures, and communicated with contractors to manage site preparation, drainage, and field construction.

• Installation of synthetic turf systems for a regulation football field, baseball field, and two softball fields.
• Complete site preparation, grading, and drainage improvements to ensure long-term performance and durability.
• Extended playability provides consistent playing surfaces for practices, games, and tournaments year-round.
• Reduced costs by limiting the amount of maintenance (irrigation, mowing, and field upkeep) over the lifespan of the turf field.
