Please join us in welcoming J.T. Anderson to our team as a Senior Project Manager in our Grand Forks, ND, office. J.T. brings more than 30 years of experience in transportation engineering and public service, where he has played a key role in helping communities develop and maintain transportation systems that prioritize safety, connectivity, and long-term growth.
Before joining HEI, J.T. served as the District Engineer for the Minnesota Department of Transportation District 2. In that role, he oversaw transportation programs, infrastructure investments, and operations across northwestern Minnesota. His expertise includes project planning and delivery, construction management, asset management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational leadership.
Throughout his career, J.T. has collaborated with local governments, transportation agencies, Tribal Nations, and community stakeholders to advance various projects including highway, bridge, maintenance, and construction initiatives. His ability to balance infrastructure priorities with funding considerations and long-term planning provides valuable insights for clients facing complex transportation challenges.
J.T.’s collaborative approach and extensive leadership experience make him a great asset to HEI. He will work with clients and communities to develop practical transportation solutions that enhance safety, mobility, and long-term infrastructure performance.

What drew you to HEI, and what excites you most about joining our team?
I have worked with HEI on a variety of projects during my time in the public sector and have always been impressed with the project teams and their approach to developing solutions. I am excited to get involved in transportation projects and help HEI continue to grow.

Hallock, MN.
What’s your favorite way to relax and unwind after a busy day?
Sit on our back patio at home with my wife.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my family, watching my boys play baseball, fishing, hunting, and camping. I am also an aspiring wild game cook.

Granola bar or honey-roasted peanuts.
