We are excited to announce that three professionals at HEI have recently been named shareholders:
– Gregg Thielman, President/CEO
Ryan David
Ryan David has served as a civil engineer from HEI’s Bismarck, ND, office for the past 9 years, where he supports drinking water treatment and distribution projects. His focus is project management and design for the State of North Dakota’s Northwest Area Water Supply (NAWS) project. The NAWS team is comprised of drinking water experts who support multiple North Dakota water systems. Before joining HEI, Ryan was a licensed water plant operator, giving him valuable hands‑on experience operating and maintaining water treatment systems. Ryan serves as an Officer to Chapter 3 of the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers and an Associate Director to the North Dakota Water Pollution and Control Conference. Outside of work, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, including a handful of English Springer Spaniels, taking his girls to a never-ending number of activities, beaching the pontoon on any Missouri River sandbar, vacationing, hunting, and sometimes free time.

Mike Ferrie
Mike Ferrie has been with HEI for 13 years working in the water resources sector. He serves as the assistant district engineer for the Pembina County Water Resource District, providing services such as watershed management, rural drainage, flood protection, and construction administration. In addition to working with water resource districts, Mike and his team are regional experts in urban storm water modeling, storm sewer design, and flood risk reduction design. Mike serves the community as Board President of the non-profit River Keepers. Outside of work, Mike enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and going on adventures with his girlfriend, Allie, and their pup, Brinkley.

Adam Nies
Adam Nies is a water resources and design engineer with extensive experience leading drainage, floodplain management, and stormwater projects across Minnesota and North Dakota. Working out of HEI’s Maple Grove, MN, office, Adam specializes in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and has led thousands of stream miles of FEMA Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) and Risk MAP studies, as well as numerous North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) hydraulic analyses. Adam provides technical leadership on complex efforts such as dam breach and floodplain mapping projects, and is also a skilled communicator who supports public engagement and coordination with stakeholders and landowners. Outside of work, you can find Adam coaching little league games, canoeing and camping with his family, or just relaxing in the backyard playing catch with the kids or singing songs around the campfire.
