HEI Welcomes Three Former Interns as Full-Time Civil Engineers

We welcome three more interns joining HEI as full-time staff!

We are excited to have these individuals, who interned at HEI last summer or worked part-time through the school year, return as full-time staff after graduation. 

Welcome Rachel Boehme

Rachel Boehme headshotCongratulations to Rachel Boehme on transitioning from an intern to a full-time civil engineer! Rachel interned in the Maple Grove, MN, office in the summer of 2025 and returns as part of the water resources-surface water and modeling team in that office.

Rachel grew up in Maple Grove and attended the University of Minnesota Duluth, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

 

Fun Facts:

  • What drew you to HEI, and what excites you most about joining our team? I love the work environment and the types of projects I get to work on. Interning here last summer was a blast, and I’m excited to be back full-time!
  • What’s your favorite local business, restaurant, or event in your community? I love the Great Greek on Main Street here in Maple Grove.
  • What is your favorite snack? Lime Tortilla Chips.
  • What is your favorite fuel for staying energized? Iced coffee.

Welcome Trey Johnson

Congratulations to Trey Johnson on transitioning from an intern to a full-time civil engineer! Trey began interning in the Fargo, ND, office in summer 2024 and is now part of the transportation-roadway team there.

Originally from Lakeville, MN, Trey attended North Dakota State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

 

Fun Facts:

  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Outdoor activities.
  • What’s your favorite food? Burgers.
  • What’s your favorite season? Spring.

Welcome Kiarah Solum

Kiearah Solum's headshotCongratulations to Kiarah Solum on transitioning from an intern to a full-time civil engineer! Kiarah began working as an engineering intern in the Fargo office back in summer 2024 and is now part of the water resources team there.

A West Fargo native, she attended North Dakota State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering.

 

Fun Facts:

    • What inspired you about this career? I wanted to be a part of helping the environment and communities. I also love math and science.
    • What’s your favorite snack? Dark chocolate-covered pretzels.
    • What are some of your hobbies? Photography, traveling, painting, reading, listening to music, and baking.
    • If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Egypt to see the pyramids or Greece for the beautiful views of the Mediterranean.
