Jenny Pulkrabek

Jenny Pulkrabek

Originally from Mandan, ND, Jenny joins our Bismarck team as an intern working towards a degree in land surveying and civil engineering from Bismarck State College. She is expecting to graduate in spring 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? What excites me is I feel that the people that work here (just from introduction) are willing to teach and help one learn to do their best.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Relaxing and hanging out with friends. [I] do like a variety of different work. I grew up on a farm, still on the farm, so everything we do is outside.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I am part of the Heart River Cemetery Commitee. I help with records and account balances. I have a project of remapping out the cemetery with the stones that can be read and updating records of those in the cemetery with location.

Peyton Trogstad

Peyton grew up in Fargo, ND, and joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2028.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? How personable everyone was in the interview process.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Hang with friends, golf, pickleball, and lake activities.
  • Favorite snack: Welch’s fruit snacks or Cheez-Its.

Keenan Kalhagen

Keenan Kalhagen headshot

Originally from Edmore, ND, Keenan joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in fall 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? The wide variety of divisions of civil engineering it provides. I feel that I could learn a lot in transportation, and by working with others, learn more in the other divisions. I’ve had a lot of experience with the analytical part of transportation and now I hope to learn more about application of that data and how it can change a community.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I work out at the gym and spend time with my friends, family, and girlfriend.
  • Favorite snack: Honey BBQ chips.

Nathan Sedlacek

Originally from Warren, MN, Nathan joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2027.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I think it’s a great opportunity to learn further about engineering and what they do on a day-to-day basis.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoying playing sports such as golf and basketball.
  • Favorite snack: BBQ Pringles

Kody Sagaser

Originally from Jamestown, ND, Kody joins our Grand Forks team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from the University of North Dakota (UND). He is expecting to graduate in spring 2027.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I was drawn to HEI because of the friendly employees and the wide array of projects they work on. I am excited to help with a variety of different projects and get to learn about all sorts of topics. I am especially excited to learn about construction inspection.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoy hanging out with friends, rollerblading, video games, and tinkering on my computer.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? Music is a big part of my life, so I am a member of the marching and athletic bands at UND. I love making music and I especially love making music for thousands of fans during sporting events.

Edie Bollenbach

Originally from Black Earth, WI, Edie joins our Maple Grove team as an intern working towards a degree in bioproducts and biosystems engineering from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She is expecting to graduate in spring 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? Looking into companies prior to my university’s engineering career fair, HEI’s projects and company values were very intriguing to me, and I had also heard great things about HEI from other students and professors in my major. I am very excited to work with the water resources team this summer! I am eager to learn more about the day-to-day work in a water resources engineering role, and I hope to gain lots of hands-on experience with the methods and tools used by industry professionals.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I love to spend time outside, especially canoeing, hiking and swimming, and I also watch lots of movies.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I volunteer to do education and outreach about bioproducts and biosystems engineering through my student group, which is actually how I found out about this major when I entered university, so I enjoy helping other students and high schoolers find their passion just like I did!

Rachel Boehme

Rachel grew up in Maple Grove, MN, and joins our Maple Grove team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She is expecting to graduate in spring 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I was drawn to HEI at the UMD career fair when I learned that HEI does a multitude of project types within many different branches of civil engineering. I am most interested in environmental and water engineering, so I was super excited to hear that the Maple Grove office does a lot of projects in that branch of engineering. I hope I experience going to different job sites and learn the scope of everything that a typical project entails here. I’m also interested to learn more about water resource engineering and the environmental services that HEI provides.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoy golfing, playing pickleball, baking, and kayaking!
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I am one of the Project Leads for an organization called Engineers Without Borders (University of Minnesota Duluth Chapter). We are working on designing a water distribution system for a community in rural Kenya. I have loved working with the community in Kenya and getting to visit them during our implementation trip just this past December!

Jake Seip

Originally from Lincoln, NE, Jake joins our Omaha team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I met some of the Omaha office at the UNL career fair and I loved their attitudes and personalities and really enjoyed getting to know more about what HEI did and how close the office is with each other. I hope to learn more about environmental engineering and what the day to day looks like.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I am a big outdoorsman. I love to hunt and fish, as well as hike and kayak. I have recently started to enjoy golfing quite a bit.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I was a part of the University of Nebraska cheer squad, and I also volunteer with the catholic social services of Lincoln.

Logan Kostrzewski

Originally from Karlstad, MN, Logan joins our Thief River Falls team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in fall 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? Both the projects that they have, and are working on, as well as the community really excites me. I’m excited to learn what being an actual civil engineer is like by seeing others and being able to learn and do new things.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I absolutely love hiking and going for bike rides whenever I have time.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I have helped sandbag in the city of Fargo and would love to do more volunteer work as I like being a part of something that helps people.

Bodi George

Originally from Gilbert, MN, Bodi joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2028.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I met with your booth at the career fair in October and you guys were very nice and seemed very interested in who I was. I’m really excited to get working experience and learn from you guys. I hope to learn more about the construction aspect that goes into civil engineering, so that in the future when I am designing projects, I have that in my toolbox.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, and pretty much anything outdoors.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I am involved in Alpha Gamma Rho. We do philanthropy events, and I really enjoy making a difference in the community.

Emmit Anderson

Originally from Commerce City, CO, Emmit joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2027.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I was drawn to HEI because of the variety of things that they did and their friendliness. I’m excited to see how many new things I can learn while on the team! I hope to lean about surveying and reality capture, transportation, water resources, municipal infrastructure, and geospatial technology.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Nature, videogames, time with friends.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? Not currently, but I worked for a non-profit called Teens Inc. TeamWorks in Nederland, CO, for two years. They are a leadership development and conservation program, and what I enjoyed most was the growth I had as a person and the many friends I made.

Caleb Sinouthasy

Caleb grew up in Osseo and Maple Grove, MN, and joins our Maple Grove team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2027.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I was interested how HEI was involved in their community, being in parades, and fundraising. HEI projects in my communities, for example: the work on I-94 and University Drive in Fargo, ND; and Eagle Lake Golf Course in Plymouth, MN. I also have had great interactions with the employees I met before applying. I am most excited to work as a team with others. I hope to gain skills in civil engineering for transportation, to learn the process of projects and what it is like to work with HEI.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Outside of work I love doing outdoor activities, hockey, studying the bible, being with friends, trying food, and learning in college.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I am involved in five campus organizations: NDSU Ultimate Frisbee Club, Chi Alpha (Campus ministry), NDSU Climbing Club, American Society of Civil Engineers, and NDSU Steel Bridge Club. All these clubs have allowed me to have relationships with people from all over the country. I love Chi Alpha and I enjoyed leading a small group bible study, I got to lead and grow close with 9 guys in our relationship with Jesus.

Julia Puhl

A native of Fargo, ND, Julia joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from the University of Iowa. She is expecting to graduate in spring 2027.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? Exposure to different areas within civil engineering drew me to HEI, and I am most excited to get to go to a job site! I’m really excited to get some hands-on experience and see how engineering concepts are applied in real life and outside the classroom.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Reading, running, pickleball, movies, and sailing
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I am involved in Letters of Love at the University of Iowa where I enjoy getting to talk to people who I otherwise wouldn’t have met.

Ronan Parks

Originally from Lincoln, NE, Ronan joins our Omaha team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is expecting to graduate in fall 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? The opportunity here at HEI seemed perfect for what I am studying and trying to get experience in. I am excited to get to meet everyone else on the team and to get more experience in the workforce. I hope to meet some great people that I can go to for advice and that can help me make the right choices for my career as well as the hands-on experience that can help me know what it is like to work as a civil engineer.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? My favorite thing to do outside of work is playing soccer.
  • Are you involved in any community/volunteer organizations? I am involved with a leadership mentoring program called NHRI through UNL. I love it because I get to meet with a mentee once a week and I have been meeting with the same mentee for the last three years. He just finished 7th grade, and we get to talk about leadership topics in the context of his life, and it is awesome to see how he uses those ideas in school and on his football team.

Matthew Austin

A Minot, ND, native, Matthew joins our Minot team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from the University of North Dakota. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? Opportunities to learning more about water and wastewater treatment. I hope to gain more insight into water and wastewater in the civil field.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Going to the gym and working on my car.
  • Favorite snack: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

Coltan Koehn

Originally from Alexandria, MN, Coltan joins our Fargo team as an intern working towards a degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expecting to graduate in spring 2026.

  • What inspired you about this career? I really like problem solving and civil engineering is all about that, and civil projects are all unique.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Anything outdoors: biking, hiking, playing (soccer, tennis, pickleball) and watching sports, reading, singing in choir.
  • Favorite food: Grandma’s rice pudding.

Trey Johnson

  • What inspired you about this career? I love the outdoors and want to find ways to help it stay beautiful.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Snowboarding and gardening.
  • Most memorable vacation: First Disney Cruise I took in elementary school.

  • What inspired you about this career? I wanted to be a part of helping the environment and communities. I also love math and science. 
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Photography, traveling, painting, reading, listening to music, and baking.

Originally from Woodbury, MN, Kyle joins our Maple Grove team as an intern working towards a degree in land surveying and mapping sciences from Saint Cloud State University. He is expecting to graduate in fall 2026.

  • What drew you to HEI and what excites you about joining our team? I was drawn to HEI because of a recommendation from one of my professors. I am excited to join the HEI survey team and work towards becoming a licensed land surveyor. I hope to learn more about surveying and get some good hands-on experience in the field.
  • What do you enjoy doing outside of work? I enjoy hiking, biking, camping, and skiing during the winter.
  • Favorite snack: Cheez-Its
