Lydia Beauclair

Lydia Beauclair is joining our Fargo, ND, office as an Environmental Intern. Originally from Stephen, MN, she is working towards her bachelor’s degree in natural resources management from North Dakota State University and is expecting to graduate in May of 2025.  

Fun Facts:  

  • Hobbies: Cross-stitching, hiking, reading, and anything crafty. 
  • Pets:  Two cats! 
  • Most Memorable Vacation: Hawaii this year. Seeing a sea turtle in the wild for the first time was unexpectedly thrilling. 
  • Top Destination on Bucket List: European hiking trip. 
  • Most Memorable Concert: Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour. 
  • On My Playlist: Caamp, The Revivalists, Mt. Joy, Hozier, Tyler Childers. 
  • Work Fuel: I love iced lattes, but normal coffee and creamer most days. 
  • Favorite College Course Thus Far: Entomology, Mammalogy, and GIS. 
  • What inspired you about this career? I have found a deep passion and respect for nature, and I love learning about all of it. I didn’t realize I could feel so strongly about something, and I am so thankful and excited to be preparing to enter this field. 
  • What attracted you to being an intern at HEI? I thought it could be a great learning experience and I got the impression that HEI was a very successful company in their field. I appreciate that it began as a local business in Fargo, and since they’ve grown so much, I figured they are doing excellent work that I’d like to be a part of. 

Taylor Bunton

Taylor Bunton is joining our Des Moines, IA, office as an Environmental Intern. Originally from Burlington, IA, Taylor is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental science with a minor in math from Drake University. He is expected to graduate in spring 2025.  

 Fun Facts:  

  • Hobbies: Hunting, golfing, and other sports.  
  • Pets: I have a Boston Terrier.  
  • Random Fact: I have a twin sister.  
  • Top Destination on Bucket List: Greece.  
  • What attracted me to be an intern at HEI: I enjoyed the atmosphere and I think it’s a great place for me to grow as an intern. 

Logan Fonder

Logan Fonder is returning to our Minot, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. A Minot native, he is currently working towards his bachelor’s degree in construction management from North Dakota State University. He is expected to graduate in Spring 2026.

  • Hobbies: Hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends. 
  • Pets: Bulldog and a wiener dog. 
  • Random Facts or Special Skills: I am a huge Phoenix Suns fan.

  • What inspired you about this career? I think it’s satisfying to see the start to finish of a construction project. 
  • What do you love about your community? The support it has behind high school sports. 
  • I’m excited to be an intern at HEI because I am excited to learn and further my career! 

Trey Johnson

Trey Johnson is joining our Fargo, ND, office as a Technician Intern. Originally from Lakeville, MN, he is working towards his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University and is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2026.

Coltan Koehn

Coltan Koehn is joining our Fargo, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Alexandria, MN, Coltan is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. He is expected to graduate in spring 2026.

  • Hobbies: Anything outdoors: biking; hiking; playing sports like soccer, tennis, and pickleball. I also enjoy watching sports, reading, and singing in choir.  
  • Family: Twin brother, and older sister.  
  • Top Destination on Bucket List: Norway or somewhere tropical.  
  • Favorite Food: Grandma’s rice pudding.  
  • Favorite Movie Genre: Action.  
  • Favorite Season: Fall.  
  • Currently Reading: The Bourne Ultimatum.  
  • Currently Watching: Criminal Minds.

  • Favorite College Courses: Surveying and Geology.  
  • What inspired you about this career? I really like problem-solving, and civil engineering is all about that. Also, civil projects are all unique.  
  • What attracted me to be an intern at HEI: I’ve heard lots of good things about HEI from people I’ve talked to. 

Jude Kraft

Jude Kraft is joining our Omaha, NE, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Omaha, NE, Jude is attending the University of Nebraska Omaha and majoring in environmental engineering. He is expected to graduate in spring of 2025. We’re happy to have him join our team!

  • Hobbies: Pickleball, guitar, cooking, and hiking. 
  • Most Memorable Vacation: The Badlands and Custer State Park.
  • Most Memorable Concert: Ween in Kansas City, MO.

  • What inspired you about this career? The chance to have a local impact and benefit the environment. 

Sabrina Mueller

Sabrina Mueller is joining our Maple Grove, MN, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Minneapolis, MN, Sabrina is working towards her bachelor’s degree in bioproducts and biosystems engineering from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She is expected to graduate in spring 2025. 

Fun Facts:  

  • Hobbies: Crochet, cross-stitch, and chainmail.  
  • Pets: I have one snake.  
  • Favorite College Courses: Solid and Hazardous Wastes, Hydrology and Water Quality Field Methods.  
  • What attracted me to be an intern at HEI: I’m really drawn to HEI because of the amazing variety in their work. HEI has accomplished so many different environmentally friendly projects, and it’s clear there’s a lot to learn here. The chance to dive into such diverse projects is really exciting, and I can’t wait to grow and pick up new skills here!

Tate Novodvorsky is joining our Minot, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Douglas, ND, he is working towards his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wyoming and is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2026.

  • Random Fact: I’m on my college’s competitive shotgun shooting team.

Emma Richter

Emma Richter is joining our Fargo, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Farmington, MN, she is working towards her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from North Dakota State University. Emma is expected to graduate in spring 2026.

  • Hobbies: Snowboarding and gardening.
  • Family: Fiancé.
  • Pets: Golden Retriever and a rescue mix.
  • Random Fact: I am starting a garden for the first time this summer.
  • Most Memorable Vacation: First Disney Cruise I took in elementary school.
  • Top Destination on Bucket List: Anywhere in Europe.
  • Most Memorable Concert: Lauren Daigle.
  • Favorite Food: Mac and cheese.
  • Favorite Sport: Soccer.
  • Favorite Season: Spring and summer.
  • Favorite College Course: Fluid Mechanics.
  • What inspired you about this career? I love the outdoors and want to find ways to help it stay beautiful.
  • What do you love about your community? They will drop anything to help.
  • What attracted me to be an intern at HEI: I was introduced to the type of work that HEI was doing and wanted to learn more about it.

Jacob Schwab

Jacob Schwab is joining our Fargo, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Sioux Falls, SD, he is working towards his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2025.

  • Hobbies: Guitar, reading, hunting, sports, hiking, biking. 
  • Family: My mom, dad, and brother. 
  • Most Memorable Vacation: Skiing trip to Snowy Range, CO. 
  • Favorite Food: Chori Pollo.

  • Favorite Sports: Baseball, football, and volleyball. 
  • Currently Reading: Lord of the RingsThe Fellowship of the Ring.

  • What inspired you about this career? Learning about all the intricacies that go into designing and the purpose for each of those parts. 
  • What attracted me to be an intern at HEI: I heard great things about HEI, and HEI had opportunities for structural engineering

Gabi Schmoll

Gabi Schmoll is returning to our Fargo, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Northfield, MN, Gabi is working towards her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University. She is expected to graduate in Summer 2025.

  • Hobbies: Arts and crafts (painting, pottery, drawing), working out, and reading. 
  • Pet: 11-year-old lab. 
  • Most Memorable Vacation: Going to the Dominican Republic with my family. 
  • Top Destination on Bucket List: Italy or Iceland. 
  • Favorite Sports: Baseball/softball and hockey. 
  • Favorite Season: Spring. 
  • Currently Watching: Modern Family. 
  • On My Playlist: Mainly pop and country music. 
  • What inspired you about this career? I want to help develop communities for a better future and I love working in a career that combines design and mathematics. 
  • I am excited to be an intern at HEI because I will be getting to work with the wonderful staff while developing new skills! 

Kiarah Solum

  • Favorite Movie Genres: Thrillers and romance.

  • What inspired you about this career? I wanted to be a part of helping the environment and communities. I also love math and science. 
  • What do you love about your community? When getting involved, I love that our community hosts events such as farmers markets, sales, and street fairs. I find myself discovering many connections with lots of new people. 
  • I’m excited to be an intern at HEI because I will get to find out what interests me the most and will get experience before I graduate. I am also excited to learn and discover more. 

Marin Traynor

Marin Traynor is joining our Bismarck, ND, office as an Engineering Intern. Originally from Bismarck, ND, she is working towards her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering at Michigan Tech and is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2026.

  • Hobbies: Playing guitar, hiking, and kayaking.  
  • Family: Two younger sisters.  
  • Top Destination on Bucket List: Glacier National Park.  
  • Most Memorable Concert: Taylor Swift – The Eras Tour.

  • Favorite College Course Thus Far: Environmental Engineering (fundamentals).  
  • What inspired you about this career? Having a selection of areas to specialize in and different jobs to go into that I am passionate about and interested in.  
  • What attracted you to being an intern at HEI? Getting to try new things and learn more about engineering!
