MN Wetlands - BEAST
BEAST (Benefits Estimator And Summary Tool)

Background

The Prioritize, Target, and Measure Application (PTMApp) is a surface water quality model from the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resource that is being widely used by watershed management personnel throughout the country. With the assistance of PTMApp, those seeking to protect the water we all depend on have the tools they need to support the success of their conservation and management projects.

Seeing a need among our clients to be able to more easily work with the available PTMApp data, HEI created the Benefits Estimator And Summary Tool (BEAST) to leverage the watershed-specific PTMApp data and present it in a user-friendly Microsoft Excel setting. The BEAST can be quickly used to analyze possible conservation project scenarios or to estimate the water quality benefit of implemented projects. This gives users the ability to quickly track sediment, phosphorus, and nitrogen load reductions without requiring a deep understanding of the structure of the underlying PTMApp data.
