Otten Joins HEI

Megan Otten joins HEI’s team as a GIS Technician in our Maple Grove office. Megan will perform entry-level professional GIS duties while assisting engineers, surveyors, and environmental scientists with their daily activities. Megan will be involved in all aspects of GIS. Her essential duties will include collecting, managing, creating, and editing spatial data for incorporation into analyses, graphics, maps, and projects.

Originally from Rogers, MN, Megan received her bachelor’s degree in geoscience from Winona State University. While at Winona State University, Megan worked on a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) research project that was aimed at mapping soil and water conservation practices in the Root River Watershed. After graduating, she began her career at Saint Mary’s University as a GIS Technician. She is currently working towards her master’s degree in data intelligence and geoanalytics.

•    Hobbies: Houseplants, any craft a grandma would do (i.e., sewing, crochet, painting, etc.)
•    Most Memorable Place Visited: San Francisco a few weeks ago
•    Favorite Food(s): Anything sweet
•    I enjoy listening to pop, indie rock, alternative…anything really
•    Currently Reading: Normal People by Sally Rooney
•    Currently Rewatching: New Girl
•    Best Advice You Ever Heard: “Stay out of your comfort zone”
