HEI’s team in Fargo, ND, held its annual fundraiser for United Way of Cass-Clay during February to raise funds for the non-profit organization. Throughout the month, employees participated in several activities to raise donations while having some fun along the way.
A total of $8,347 was raised this year through the campaign and participant donations!

Mystery Bag Auction
Employees purchased tickets for a chance to win a mystery bag prize just in time for Valentine’s Day. Participants who donated were entered into a drawing to win mystery bags. Our winners received gifts that tied into the Valentine’s Day holiday! This event raised $430 towards our campaign goal.
The winners were:
- Jeff Bentz won the “Timeless beauty that never dies” prize (an orchid LEGO set)
- Savannah Hartsoch won the “There’s no perfect proposal” prize (a pink Keurig)
- Melissa Benda won the “Stressed spelled backwards is desserts” prize (Silver Linings Creamery gift card and “The Perfect Man” chocolate)
- Dustin Buchholtz won the “Let’s get toasted” prize (Toasted Frog gift card and hazelnut white chocolate peanut butter)
- Kristen Lotvedt won the “To help with those tough decisions” prize (restaurant idea dice and an Amazon gift card)
- Zach Holweger won the “Spice up your love life…” prize (Penzeys spices, Dracula garlic crusher, and Off the Deck hot sauce)

Plinko Event
The Fargo office set up a plinko board in the lobby and participants paid $5 to drop a puck on the plinko board for a chance to win a prize! This event raised $280. Dustin Buchholtz, Lois Erickson, Kristen Lotvedt, and Wade Opsahl won gift cards.

Taco in a Bag and 50/50 Raffle Drawings
To wrap up the month of fundraising, employees enjoyed taco in a bag for lunch with a free-will donation to raise funds for United Way. There was also a 50/50 raffle where Zach Holweger won $142, and $143 was donated to United Way.
