Location: Various locations including Dickinson, Bismarck, Washburn, Fargo, and Minot (ND); Moorhead, Burnsville, Ada, Hawley, Dayton (MN)
Client: PROffutt, LP, and RDO Equipment Co.
Background
RDO Equipment Co. supplies a wide variety of equipment for agriculture and construction needs. Well known as a local John Deere dealer, RDO also operates RDO Truck Centers across Nebraska and North Dakota. In 2004, RDO Equipment envisioned a new flagship complex that could provide sales, demonstration/testing, and equipment of large agricultural equipment in one location.
Since HEI helped RDO bring this vision to life in Moorhead, Minnesota, our team has continued to work with RDO to plan and design new sites in several locations across the upper Midwest. Having a single engineering firm for multiple sites has helped RDO Equipment ensure their new sites share a common identity and functionality.
The Project
Many of the RDO Equipment sites built over the last 13 years have been new locations, requiring total site development. HEI has completed surveying, site grading and concrete grading, and parking design for these locations.
To get a complete picture of the new locations, HEI used drone flights to capture video and images of the project sites. In addition to the drone footage, our team created 3D renderings to help stakeholders envision the sites clearly.
HEI has also conducted all water resources work for the projects, including HydroCAD modeling, erosion control planning, and stormwater retention pond and drainage designs. Depending on the project site, specialized components have been required such as outlet control structures and pumping stations. Our team also completed all sanitary sewer, stormwater sewer, water main designs, and Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) requirements.
To ensure success during construction, HEI staked the project sites, implemented erosion control plans, and oversaw construction management. Newly constructed sites offer more efficient parking lot designs and bigger lot sizes, which accommodate large equipment, trucks, and many customers needing access to the complex. Well-designed sites allow RDO Equipment’s customers in American Agriculture to spend less time getting the equipment they need and more time getting work done!
