HEI's Lisa Odens presented at the annual
Minnesota Association Flooplain Managers conference held last week and was voted as one of three "Top Speaker Awards" based on popular vote. Lisa's presentation showcased the Hansen Park Comprehensive Water Management Project. This Rice Creek Watershed District project is located in New Brighton, MN. The project provides water quality, flood control, and recreational benefits. The title of Lisa's presentation pays homage to the Brady Bunch television series, "Here's a Story of a Park Named Hansen," which was a theme throughout the presentation.
The award isn't a typical plaque. It's a homemade design created by Chuck Hubbard of Braun Intertec, who was involved in the planning of the annual conference and handcrafts unique awards each year. This year's award features the iconic Paul Bunyan and his trusty blue ox, Babe, preparing for a flood with sandbags–fitting for the floodplain managers conference.
