HEI's Adam Nies and Greg Thompson co-presented at the Minnesota Association of Floodplain Managers 2016 Annual Conference in St. Cloud, Minnesota, this week. Based on popular vote from the audience, they received one of three "Top Speaker Awards" at the conference. Adam and Greg's presentation incorporated an HEC-RAS 2D modeling analysis they had completed for the City of Fargo.
The award isn't a typical plaque. It's a homemade design created by Chuck Hubbard of Braun Intertec, who was involved in the planning of the conference. The large blocks of "granite" represent the location of the conference in "the Granite City" of St. Cloud and show individuals preparing for a flood with sandbags – appropriate for the floodplain managers conference.
