HEI Awarded Second One Watershed, One Plan Pilot Project in Minnesota
Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) was recently awarded their second One Watershed, One Plan (1W1P) pilot project in the state of Minnesota. On December 2, 2015, the North Fork Crow River Watershed Planning Partners selected HEI’s experienced team to collaborate closely with the Policy and Advisory committees to develop a Comprehensive Management Plan.

Located 60 miles west of the Twin Cities, the partnership includes watershed districts, SWCDs, counties, state and regional agencies and conservation groups, and local landowners and operators. In addition to plan writing services and coordination, HEI will use the new Prioritize, Target, and Measure Application (PTMApp) to create data products for a targeted implementation plan. HEI will also provide strong leadership to help the large group reach consensus to ensure the final product is a usable plan that creates a common vision as well as projects for all partners.

Guided by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), the 1W1P process departs from traditional efforts guided by multiple plans and instead encourages local partners to develop a collaborative water management plan. HEI is also leading the first pilot project with the Root River 1W1P planning partners in southern Minnesota, where the draft plan has been submitted to BWSR for review.

With the statewide adoption of 1W1P, HEI is humbled and excited to continue working with planning partners to navigate the new process. Our ultimate goal is to continue developing plans that are usable, holistic, and targeted to make real improvement to Minnesota’s environment!
