On December 7, the Joint North Dakota Water Convention and Irrigation Workshop held their annual awards banquet where two Houston Engineering, Inc. (HEI) employees were recognized.

Michael Gunsch, PE, CFM, was honored with the 2017 Missouri River Joint Water Board's Riverman Award. The Riverman Award signifies appreciation for a lifetime of leadership, resource management, and water development in the Missouri River Corridor. Michael serves out of HEI's Bismarck office.
Lawrence Woodbury, PhD, PE, PH, was honored with the 2017 Commodore Award for his service and dedication to the water industry. The Commodore Award is presented by the Governor of North Dakota, and winners hold the rank of Commodore in the North Dakota Mythical Navy. Winners must have previously won a Water Wheel Award to be eligible for the Commodore Award. Lawrence is HEI's former President/CEO who served out of our headquarters in Fargo until his official retirement in April 2017.
