The Grey Cloud Channel Restoration and Crossing project received the ACEC/MN's Honor Award for 2019.

The Grey Cloud Channel is a meander loop of the Mississippi River that was severed for more than 50 years, causing the loss of ecological function of the two-mile-long channel. In 2011, the South Washington Watershed District and various agencies developed a restoration project for the Grey Cloud Channel. HEI conducted the feasibility study—investigating water quality, navigability, fish passage, recreational opportunities, maintenance costs, and more—and later provided designs and construction observation services to help achieve the identified goals.

Greg Bowles attended the ACEC/MN banquet recently to receive the award on behalf of HEI and the South Washington Watershed District.
