Curtiss Field Park is a neighborhood park home to Curtiss Pond, a small stormwater pond that has pond has a history of flooding, which presents a safety concern for the City. HEI completed the feasibility study to examine the range of alternatives to reduce the risk of flooding.
In 2015, the Pomme de Terre River Association (PDTRA) began the process of applying for a Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources Accelerated Implementation Grant. The PDTRA reached out to HEI to develop a targeted conservation practice implementation plan. The project is still ongoing.
To reverse 100 years of erosion damage, the project aimed to restore six miles of river, establishing fish passage, natural habitat, and stabilized gully.
