Headwaters Cedar Creek: Water Quantity and Quality Stewardship
Headwaters Cedar Creek: Water Quantity and Quality Stewardship

Location:  Pocahontas County, Iowa
Client:  Confidential

Background

The Headwaters Cedar Creek, within the North Raccoon River Watershed, is the focus of an Iowa Water Quality Initiative and has a 12-digit HUC water quality plan. It will also be a focal area of a flood reduction planning effort.

The Project

In 2017, HEI began a project collaboration to integrate the water quality and water quantity benefits of existing and planned conservation efforts to engage farmers. The goal is to identify stewardship benefits of farmers’ existing efforts as well as targeted opportunities for continued improvements that provide both water quality improvements and water quantity management. This integration will be identified through specific field-scale conservation opportunities.
